School Spirit
This past Saturday, I attended
the ONU homecoming football game. The
stands were packed despite how darn cold it was out there. It was only 43 degrees and very windy. I, of course, don’t have a coat here because
I didn’t think I would need one before I had the chance to go home for fall
break. Smart decision. So I got was pretty cold, especially my
hands. It didn’t help that at some
points it started snowing or raining slightly.
I’ve only been to a couple ONU football games during my two years here,
and they were both pretty fun, but I never really made it a regular thing
because I sincerely value the chance to sleep in on Saturdays.
My freshman and sophomore year
I played soccer here so we had either practices or games a lot of the time on Saturday
mornings. But now that I don’t play
anymore and have moved on to other things, I might take advantage of my time on
Saturdays and actually wake up and start going to the games. The challenge is getting other people to go
now as it’s bound to just get colder.
Sometimes the Midwest sucks.
Now, the disappointment of this
game was that we lost. The final score
was ONU 10, John Carroll 17. ONU was
ahead at one point, 10-7, but regrettably couldn’t hold it. It’s a pretty fun thing to be with a bunch of
your friends all cheering on your fellow students, though, and at least we
weren’t blown out. Hopefully they can
rebound next week.
Go Bears!
